THE
AMERICAN ICARUS

GENRE: Adult Historical Fiction

TYPE: Series

Many know the story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, the fiery Caribbean youth who rose to great power and died tragically in a fatal duel.

But no one has thought to give Hamilton his pen--until now.

Journey into this sweeping tale of love, loss, triumph, wars, political victories, scandals, duels, and family, following Alexander as he attempts to grapple with the trials of his childhood in the sugar-filled islands of the West Indies, at last being pushed to want make something of himself and leave his mark on the world--traveling by luck to what would become the United States and from there stopping at nothing to achieve his goal--even if that means risking his work, reputation, family, and even life, to do it.

Through a never-before-seen lense: that of Hamilton's own, akin to a memoir in exploring and studying the true character behind the Founder history has but forgotten.

Why TAI?

I have been fascinated by the life and character of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton for many years now, but the spark for The American Icarus came to me late one night while reading a biography. The author was going on about what Hamilton might have thought upon a particular subject--having done this many times before. A thought then formed in my head that has since changed many things:

What if I could just be in Hamilton's head?

Thus began the slow process of attempting to do something never-before done: telling his story through his first-person perspective. As I have dived into the deep ends of research, analyzed aspects of Hamilton's character in building my fictional interpretation, and explored this new territory of storytelling, I have come to deeply love this project and have not looked back since.
